Cultural Exchange Programs

Vigor aims to promote the greater global cause of development and community development through cultural exchange programs. For this, it encourages Au-Pairs to go abroad, and share their expertise and experiences with the local communities.

Au-Pair/Nanny/Caregiver Program

Au Pair is the French expression for “give” and “take”. An au pair is a young person, usually a young woman and sometimes a boy from abroad, who stays free of charge with a family in return for doing light house work and taking care of children. Individuals who are qualified to care independently for children, the elderly or people with disabilities can join this program. The participants join this program have experience working with children and enjoy interacting with babies, toddlers or elder in return for their services; they receive room and board as a weekly stipend, accident or sickness insurance and free international airfare. The young person is a part of a host family who help her/him to improve her/his language knowledge and to learn about the foreign culture. This program provides a great opportunity for young Nepalese to learn and study foreign language and culture abroad.

Responsibilities


  • Making aware children, dressing, bathing and feeding them.
  • Playing with children and helping them with their home work.
  • Preparing light meals or helping to prepare meals, making beds, doing laundry clothes
  • Dropping the children off and picking them up from school or activities
  • Assisting in keeping the children's rooms clean
  • Helping the family with their light housework
  • Baby sitting (if needed).
  • Elderly care (if needed).
  • Disable care (if needed).

Eligibility


  • Age: Age varies country to country. Normally aged between 18 and 26 years. Netherlands and Germany 18- 25 years old and the USA 18-26 years old.
  • Experience: Have some child care experience
  • Language: Speak and understand English, and basic conversational language ability of the destination country
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Education: minimum intermediate or equivalent 
  • Training: completed minimum 6 months training or 1 year experience in a field or have medical background
  • Have a genuine love of children, elder and disables
  • Non smoker and non-alcoholic
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Able to make 12 month commitment
  • Preferences will be given to single person with driver's license.

Required Documents


  • Properly filled out Application
  • Photographs of previous work /training with children
  • A “Dear Family” letter, in the language of your target country (or in English), stating who you are, why you want to go to your target country, your hobbies, interests, experience with children, etc.
  • Two or three reference letters. At least one should be a child care reference.
  • Medical Report
  • Police Report
  • Certificates of any degrees, high school diploma or other qualifications such as first aid or childcare courses.
  • Smiling photographs (passport size)
  • Work experience certificates
  • Valid Passport
  • Driving license
